Allen Curtis Ladd, Esq., attorney at Allen C. Ladd PC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in legal services.
With over four decades of experience, Mr. Ladd has established a successful career in immigration law. As an attorney at Allen C. Ladd PC, he operates as a solo practitioner with multilingual legal assistants, serving a diverse range of clients. He assists foreign entrepreneurs and businesses in establishing operations in the United States and facilitates recruiting and transferring foreign personnel. He also helps United States citizens sponsor family members for legal immigration status, supports permanent residents in naturalizing as U.S. citizens, and represents asylum-seekers in need of protection from persecution. He is also committed to community service, having volunteered with the Hispanic Alliance of Greenville since 2015 and serving as an attorney liaison for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Military Assistance Project since 2013. He has also contributed to the field as an author of South Carolina Bar webcasts, including “Immigration Law for the General Practitioner” and “The U.S. Work Visa System – An Overview.” Additionally, he has provided public education as a speaker on immigration law.
Mr. Ladd is an active member of several professional organizations, including AILA, the State Bar of Texas, the State Bar of Georgia, the State Bar of South Carolina, the Federal Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and the Association of European Attorneys. He has also served as vice president of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He laid a solid educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Arts in foreign affairs and French from the University of Virginia, with distinction, in 1975, and a Juris Doctor from Albany Law School in 1978. He is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in taxation at Pennsylvania State University and has held bar admissions in New York, Texas, Georgia (inactive), and South Carolina. Reflecting on his path, he developed a passion for law at an early age, fueled by his deep interest in history, having long admired influential figures such as Abraham Lincoln, the Founding Fathers and civil rights leaders who upheld high standards and bravely championed essential principles.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Ladd was recognized on the Top Lawyer List by The Greenville News in 2024 and earned a 10.0 rating on Avvo.com in 2014. He attributes his success to the values instilled by his parents, who fostered curiosity, a love for learning, and a sense of adventure through family travel and shared experiences. Despite a modest lifestyle, they created cherished memories camping and exploring California and Canada, setting the foundation for his drive and resilience. He also credits his “high achieving” siblings for inspiring him to strive for personal and professional excellence. His path has been shaped by both accomplishments and setbacks, which he believes have shaped his character, quoting the Russian saying, “A hammer can shatter glass, but it also tempers steel.” These experiences have taught him compassion, focus, and the importance of continuous self-improvement.
Looking to the future, Mr. Ladd aims to continue practicing law while pursuing personal and professional growth. He aspires to achieve financial comfort for himself and his wife, enabling them to contribute positively to society, potentially by establishing a foundation. He envisions creating a second home in France or even relocating there permanently. Over the past 15 years, he and his wife have traveled to France annually, immersing themselves in the language and culture. Their deep connection to the country is reflected in their 2010 wedding in France, where his host parents from his teenage exchange student days served as witnesses.
