Highly experienced in corporate and finance law, Mr. Quick is also well-versed in dealing with business entities. His tenure has earned him significant success as an outside general counsel for family offices and portfolio companies. He has also established numerous relationships with commercial real estate developers in structuring their business transactions. Moreover, Mr. Quick has accumulated over two decades of expertise in corporate governance, with particular experience in managing his firm’s response to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act after being introduced in 2002 to strengthen securities regulations and punish corporate fraud after scandals like Enron.
Before being acquired by Polsinelli, Mr. Quick was an attorney for Bryan Cave from 2000 to 2011 and Lathrop & Gage between 1996 and 2000. Before passing the bar, he worked as an engineering assistant at the Marshall County Engineer’s Office and laboratory assistant at Iowa State University.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Quick has excelled in higher education as an adjunct professor at the University of Kansas since 2017. He finds tremendous satisfaction in inspiring and mentoring the next generation of attorneys through his teachings.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Quick obtained a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering with a minor in philosophy, with distinction, from Iowa State University in 1993 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Michigan in 1996. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he interned as a project engineer at Koch Industries in 1992. Mr. Quick has been admitted to practice by the Missouri and Kansas Bar Associations and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Adding to his professional dedication, Mr. Quick is active in several notable industry-related organizations, such as the Kansas Bar Association, where he formerly chaired its corporate statute review committee and is a past president, among other roles. He is also active in the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the American Bar Association’s business law section.
Mr. Quick’s free time has been dedicated to various community organizations and initiatives. He is active with the Kansas City Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts, a board director for RareKCI and a counsel for the Crossroads Community Association. He formerly served as an assistant scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, reflecting his dedication to supporting the youth.
Mr. Quick notably contributed to a 30-minute boardroom drama film exploring various critical issues in corporate governance. He also authored the “Kansas Limited Liability Companies Handbook” in 2021 and the “Corporate Transparency Act” in 2024.
In light of his accomplishments, Mr. Quick received several accolades, including recognition among the 40 Under 40 Ingram’s Magazine for the Kansas City region in 2009, an Outstanding Service Award from the Kansas Bar Association in 2017, and a Distinguished Service Award from the Kansas Bar Association in 2024. Additionally, he maintains an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell, a testament to his integrity in law. Attributing his success to his ability to maintain a strong focus, Mr. Quick actively pursues meaningful endeavors that help him achieve goals he is passionate about achieving.
