Additionally, she has dedicated significant time to nonprofit leadership, serving on the board of the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging for 40 years. The Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging is a nonprofit organization based in Cleveland, Ohio, focused on improving the quality of life for older adults through services, research, and community-based programs. It advocates for policies that enhance the well-being of seniors and provides resources to support caregivers and aging professionals.
Ms. Frutig has also served as chairman of the board at Cleveland Christian Home from 2008 to 2019 and a board member at Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging from 1982 to 2015. She also served as a former board member at Applewood Centers. She is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. Her bar admissions include the Northern District of Ohio, the Supreme Court of Ohio, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Reflecting on her path, before becoming a lawyer, Ms. Frutig worked in the trust department of a bank, where she found great satisfaction in her work. Finding a passion in client interactions, she recognized the increasing presence of non-lawyer professionals in the trust department and decided to pursue a legal education and resigned from her position at the bank to enroll in law school. After a decade of practicing law, she sought more flexibility in her life, and founded her own law firm, bringing several clients with her. Her most notable achievement is the appreciation of her clients, whom she helped avoid court by preparing comprehensive documents that guided them through the end of their lives. She has embraced the importance of asking for help and always prioritizes her clients’ needs. She prides herself in taking the time to understand her clients on a deeper level. She believes what distinguishes her in her field is not approaching her work solely as a lawyer but adopting a social worker’s mindset.
Ms. Frutig attributes her success to her determination and unwavering commitment to providing excellent service. While she remains uncertain about the extent of her future professional engagements, she is dedicated to serving as a trustee or guardian as needed, regardless of her status as an attorney. Looking to the future, she envisions devoting more time to the care and education of her growing grandchildren and plans to continue her involvement in a newly established community initiative aimed at assisting the elderly.
