Title: General Counsel
Company: NFM
Location: Omaha, Nebraska, United States
Victor Padios, general counsel at NFM, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in legal services.
With nearly two decades of experience, Mr. Padios has established a successful career in legal services. Since 2017, he has served as general counsel for Nebraska Furniture Mart, where he manages all of the company’s legal matters. In addition to his legal career, he has been a professional musician since 1991. His previous legal roles include assistant general counsel at First National Bank of Omaha from 2012 to 2017, attorney at Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP from 2005 to 2012, and law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri from 2003 to 2005. Laying a strong educational foundation, he earned a classical Bachelor of Arts in Latin, Greek, and theology from Creighton University in 1999 and a Juris Doctor in law, magna cum laude, from Creighton University School of Law in 2003. He is an active member of the American Bar Association and Omaha Bar Association and dedicates his time as general counsel and president of the Omaha Tennis Association, board member of the Maha Music Festival, and committee member of the Omaha Conservatory of Music.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Padios has been a musician since the age of 17, performing, recording, and producing music throughout his life. He played with the band Bright Eyes early in his career and remains connected to the music industry. While he initially considered pursuing music full-time, the demands of supporting a growing family during college led him to seek a more stable career. His background in music, art, and media sparked an interest in intellectual property law. Throughout his career, he has found that when serving as outside counsel, legal solutions can often be theoretical or idealized, with less consideration for a business’s bottom line. However, as general counsel, he has learned to approach legal advice from a more practical perspective, understanding the pressures businesses face, such as meeting margins and operational constraints.
Mr. Padios attributes his success to hard work, resilience, and an ability to navigate adversity with a clear, concise approach to problem-solving. Looking ahead, he seeks to further grow in his role as general counsel and become even more adept at balancing legal and business considerations. In addition, he plans to release music more consistently, continuing his passion for performing and recording. In 2021, he built a recording studio in his home and is currently recording a solo album, featuring a collection of songs written over the years. In addition, he currently plays in several rock bands and aims to continue to pursue his professional and creative aspirations.
