Laura R. Wood, vice president and associate general counsel at W.W. Grainger Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in legal services.
Ms. Wood, an experienced attorney, has served as the vice president and associate general counsel of global commercial operations at W.W. Grainger Inc. since 2024. As such, she leads the business and legal team, which comprises a team of lawyers, while supporting the Grainger Business Unit. Among other responsibilities, Ms. Wood supports environmental, social and governance and focuses on intellectual property strategies. Previously, she was the general counsel at Zoro US, a subsidiary of W.W. Grainger Inc., from 2019 to 2023, and was a senior corporate counsel at Grainger between 2016 and 2019. Earlier in her career, Ms. Wood was a corporate counsel at Anixter, an associate at Burker, Warren, MacKay & Serritella PC, and an associate attorney at Ice Miller, dating back to 2006.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Wood received a Bachelor of Science in business and finance with a minor in political science from Indiana University Bloomington in 2003 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Washington University in 2006. She also received certification as an information privacy professional in the U.S. through the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Besides her extensive career, Ms. Wood remains active with the International Association of Privacy Professionals and as a member of Tech GC.
During her tenure at Zoro US, Ms. Wood was instrumental in her role as general counsel, establishing a legal department that previously did not exist. She was also selected to attend a leading women’s executive program for 2025 in Chicago. Ms. Wood’s career success also included authoring ‘Looking Through the Hedges: How the SEC Justified Its Decision to Require Registration of Hedge Fund Advisers’ in a 2005 edition of the Washington University Law Quarterly. Eager for the future, Ms. Wood aims to continue expanding her expertise while exploring her options to take on new challenges, including serving on a nonprofit board to give back to the community.
