Location: Knoxville, Tennesse, United States

Russ Egli, chief counsel and owner at Loss Claim Specialists LLC and chief counsel, chief executive officer, and owner of Egli Law Firm, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in legal services.

With nearly two decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Egli has established himself in the field of legal services, specializing in civil rights and constitutional law. He currently serves as the owner, Chief Counsel, and Owner of Loss Claim Specialists LLC, a role he has held since 2011. He has also served as Chief Counsel, Chief Executive Officer, and Owner of Egli Law Firm since 2006. From 2008 to 2010, he was outside General Counsel at EmeraChem LLC and as counsel with Lockridge & Valone PLLC and the Law Offices of John D. Lockridge Jr. from 2005 to 2006. He has also contributed as an associate editor for the ASL Law Review at the Appalachian School of Law.

Laying a solid foundation for his career, he earned an associate’s degree in political science from The University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the same institution in 1999. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the Appalachian School of Law in 2004. He also passed the bar and has been admitted to practice law in Tennessee, the Tennessee Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has won awards for his pro bono work with the Tennessee. He also maintains membership with the Tennessee Bar Association.

Reflecting on his career path, Mr. Egli says he is the only lawyer in a family of engineers. His decision to become an attorney was inspired by his uncle, who served as the head general counsel for the Federal Reserve in New York. He takes great pride in a civil rights case in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, in which he was able to achieve a seven-figure settlement without going to trial for a case involving a corrections officer who body-slammed a client, causing severe injuries. He also prides himself in a deeply personal and impactful case involving his current wife. Initially facing an unjust custody battle where a judge unfairly restricted her parental rights, he dedicated himself to challenging this injustice over a four-year legal battle that culminated in removing the biased judge from the case and securing a new judge who upheld constitutional principles and the rule of law impartially.

Mr. Egli attributes his success to his unwavering passion for his profession and his earnest commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. He emphasizes the importance of patiently listening to all parties involved, including opposing viewpoints, as it often yields valuable insights and information to strengthen his legal strategies. Additionally, he highlights his proficiency as a persuasive speaker, a crucial asset when presenting arguments before the court, and his confidence in oration and argumentation that further strengthens his advocacy on behalf of his clients.

In the coming years, Mr. Egli envisions his future path unfolding with strategic expansions in his legal practice in new regions. He is looking to open offices in Nashville and Memphis while maintaining his current presence in Knoxville. Additionally, he plans to establish satellite offices in Dallas, Texas, and rural areas of Montana or Wyoming, aiming to address the lack of legal services in these underserved communities. In the long term, he envisions a gradual transition from active legal practice to a role where he can contribute to political matters, focusing on influencing legislation and governmental policies that align with his values and expertise.

To young students aspiring to become attorneys, Mr. Egli emphasizes the importance of perseverance and hard work, reassuring them that the challenges of law school and the legal profession will become more manageable with persistence. He also advises that experiencing losses in cases is a natural part of the journey and should not undermine one’s confidence. Most importantly, he underscores the significance of upholding the oath to protect the Constitution, emphasizing that this ethical commitment is a cornerstone of the legal profession.
