With three and a half decades of professional experience to her credit, Ms. Clark has established herself in the legal field, specializing in medical malpractice law. She currently excels as the owner of Jane Clark Legal PC, where she also serves as an attorney, a role she has held since 2011. In this capacity, she manages and supervises the firm’s medical malpractice cases, acts as lead counsel on all trials, and is responsible for management, marketing, and administrative duties.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Clark served as an attorney at Baumgartner Nelson & Price from 2008 to 2011, Hoffman Hart & Wagner, now Hart Wagner LLP, from 2003 to 2007, and Johnson Graffe Keay Moniz and Wick LLP from 1999 to 2003. She was also a partner and solicitor at Lees and Partners in the UK from 1994 to 1998, an associate solicitor at Lees Lloyd Whitley Limited in the UK from 1991 to 1994, and a trainee solicitor at Lees Lloyd Whitley Limited in the UK from 1989 to 1991.
Laying a solid educational foundation, Ms. Clark pursued a degree at the University of Leicester, earning a Bachelor of Laws in 1988, followed by a Juris Doctor from the Chester College of Law in 1989. She went on to pass bar examinations for the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, and as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
Ms. Clark has demonstrated a solid commitment to her professional and community roles. Outside of her law practice, she served as an adjunct professor at Portland State University from 2009 to 2011. Currently, she is a founding board member and executive producer for The Portland Panto Players and a troop leader with the Girl Scouts of the USA. Her professional memberships include the Multnomah Bar Association, the Oregon State Bar Association, and the Washington State Bar Association. Within the Clark County Bar Association, she has held positions such as president, vice president, trustee, and chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee. Additionally, she is an Eagle Member of the Washington State Association for Justice and a Guardian Member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association.
In light of her accomplishments, Ms. Clark was named an Elite Lawyer in Medical Malpractice in 2023 and a Super Lawyer in 2020. The Clark County Bar Association recognized her as Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2017 and awarded her for service in 2015. Additionally, she was listed among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers in 2015, was named a Rising Star Honoree by Washington Super Lawyers in 2001 and earned the Queen’s Guide Award in 1984.
Outside of the legal profession, Ms. Clark takes great pride in her work with the Portland Panto Players. Portland Panto Players is a theater company dedicated to producing traditional British pantomime shows, which are family-friendly musical comedies with interactive elements, contemporary humor, and a mix of music, dance, and slapstick comedy. The company engages the local community through performances that combine classic fairy tales with modern twists, aiming to create a fun and inclusive theater experience for audiences of all ages. During her time running the organization, she produced “The Wizard of Oz,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Cinderella,” “Peter Pan,” and “Sleeping Beauty.”
One of the highlights of Ms. Clark’s career was winning a landmark medical malpractice trial in Clark County Superior Court in 2015. This case resulted in a $2 million verdict and marked the first plaintiff victory in a medical malpractice case in the county in 14 years. To achieve this, she successfully challenged the partners and former bosses from her previous law firm. She attributes her success to being focused, organized, hardworking, and willing to fight and take cases that other lawyers will not. In the coming years, she is dedicated to staying involved and growing her practice, mentoring the attorneys she works with, and continuing to cement the firm’s reputation.
