Mark S. Yurick, Esq., city attorney for Lebanon, Ohio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in municipal law.
Building on a legal career spanning more than 25 years, Mr. Yurick has served as the city attorney of Lebanon, Ohio, since 1999. His responsibilities in this role include representing the city council and other employees of the city in court, providing legal advice and ensuring that the city complies with regulations in all processes and procedures. Concurrently with this, Mr. Yurick contributed as a partner at Chester, Willcox & Saxbe LLP from 2007 to 2011 and in the same position at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP from 2011 to 2016.
Mr. Yurick’s impressive professional life includes the major milestone of arguing before the United States Supreme Court. He prides himself on making a positive impact on the lives of his clients. One of Mr. Yurick’s favorite memories is assisting a widow in receiving money from her deceased husband’s will, which allowed her two young daughters to attend college. He views his job as understanding complex legal concepts in order to use them to the benefit of the community and society.
Before starting on his vocational path, Mr. Yurick set a solid academic foundation for his future. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in marketing from the University of Akron, graduating cum laude in 1984. Following this, he completed the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and placed in the top one percent in the country. Due to his test performance, Mr. Yurick was granted a full scholarship when he went on to earn a Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati. He has been admitted to the bar in Ohio and Kentucky, as well as for the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Yurick has distinguished himself throughout his field in a number of capacities. Most notably, he is a past president of the Warren County Bar Association, showcasing his dedication to supporting fellow legal professionals in his area. Mr. Yurick’s achievements have been recognized with numerous accolades. He was listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America and was awarded an AV Preeminent rating—the highest standard possible—from Martindale-Hubbell, which assesses attorneys based on legal abilities, ethical standards and client reviews.
Passionate about becoming a lawyer since childhood, Mr. Yurick attributes his success to a drive to improve the world. In particular, he has always believed in defending against bullies, which pushed him to pursue a professional life where he could fight for justice. Mr. Yurick maintains that taking action is necessary to bring about real change. He views his work as an opportunity to participate in and improve the world rather than just pointing out problems.
Outside of his career, Mr. Yurick finds enjoyment in playing golf and exercising. Looking ahead, he is making preliminary plans to retire from his current work as a city attorney. After ending his active practice, Mr. Yurick intends to become a guardian ad litem, a position that will allow him to focus on supporting children in need of legal representation. This next step looks to continue a path devoted to using his talents and knowledge to help others.
