With years of experience to his credit, Mr. Robertson has excelled as a partner with Hendrickson & Long, PLLC, in Morgantown, West Virginia, since 2023. In this position, he is responsible for performing research on cases, drafting correspondence between all parties, and conducting depositions. In the years prior, he was active as an attorney with Farmer Cline & Campbell PLLC in Charleston, West Virginia, from 1997 to 2023. He previously served as partner at Shuman, Annand and Poe PLLC in Charleston between 1996 and 1999. Mr. Robertson began his career as an associate with Shuman, Annand and Poe PLLC in Charleston from 1992 to 1996.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Robertson pursued an education at West Virginia State University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in economics, summa cum laude, in 1989. He concluded his formal studies at West Virginia University in 1992, graduating from the College of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. In addition to his academic efforts, he obtained a first-degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 1996 and his certification as a pistol instructor from the National Rifle Association of America in 2024. Mr. Robertson has represented cases before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Beyond his primary responsibilities, Mr. Robertson has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate circles. He finds much satisfaction in helping those in need through community service at his local church. He has also offered his wealth of knowledge to The Gideons International as an invited speaker. Moreover, Mr. Robertson has been affiliated with the National Rifle Association of America as an active member.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Robertson remains associated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was notably appointed as the West Virginia state liaison for the Defense Research Institute. Likewise, he has maintained his involvement with The West Virginia Bar Association and The American Bar Association. Mr. Robertson has further contributed as a member of the West Virginia National Moot Court Team.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Robertson has accrued several accolades throughout his career. In 1990, he was recognized for Excellence in Appellate Argument at the West Virginia Baker’s Cup in Appellate Advocacy. Among the many achievements of his career, Mr. Robertson cites the admission to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court of Appeals in 2003 as his proudest professional moment.
Mr. Robertson attributes his success to his unwavering commitment to his faith as well as his dedication to community service. He was motivated to seek a career in law by his grandfather, an esteemed attorney whose footsteps he wanted to follow. Looking toward the future, he hopes to continue finding success with Hendrickson & Long, PLLC while nurturing and expanding the practice until he is ready to retire. Furthermore, Mr. Robertson aims to ensure the well-being of his children and supporting his community through charitable endeavors.
