Building on a law career of more than 40 years, Mr. Young currently serves as a senior trial attorney for the Law Office of John V. Elmore, P.C., where he primarily represents clients injured in vehicle accidents. Before joining this firm, he accepted the role of counsel at Barclay Damon LLP for several years. Mr. Young’s legal career started with a lengthy tenure as principal court attorney for the New York Supreme Court Eighth Judicial District, a position he held for nearly 40 years before temporarily retiring. His professional life began as a computer programmer and analyst at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue in 1977. Throughout his career, Mr. Young has demonstrated a commitment to thorough preparation for all situations his clients might encounter, earning him a reputation for confidence, quality and reliability.
Mr. Young’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1976. He subsequently obtained a Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo’s School of Law, part of the State University of New York system, in 1980. He eventually graduated with a Master of Arts in economics from the University at Buffalo in 1986. Mr. Young maintains membership in the New York State Bar Association and offered his guidance as the president of the Bar Association of Erie County for two years.
In addition to his professional life, Mr. Young is a longtime proponent of civic advocacy. Since 2023, he has contributed as a member of the board of directors for the Center for Elder Law & Justice, a nonprofit organization that provides disabled and low-income adults with free legal services. Mr. Young has also been appointed to the control board of the Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority since 2018 and the board of trustees for the Town of Amherst Public Library since 2021. He credits his success to perseverance, kindness and a willingness to listen to others. Mr. Young intends to continue working with the Law Office of John V. Elmore until he retires for the final time.
