Currently serving as the co-chair of the intellectual property group at Saul Ewing LLP, a renowned national law firm, he has showcased his expertise and leadership within the firm. He is also a prominent member of the Saul Ewing patent litigation team, which was recognized among the top five “go-to” law firms in the field by Lex Machina in 2018. His legal journey began at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP, where he practiced from 2002 until 2007.

Throughout his career, Mr. Baton has achieved several significant milestones, including a featured appearance in the “Decisions of Interest” by the New York Law Journal for his pro bono service during the precedent-setting case Hancock Associates v. Gomez. Additionally, he has received recognition from Chambers USA as one of America’s Leading Lawyers in Intellectual Property from 2019 to the present, as well as being named to New Jersey Super Lawyers’ Top Intellectual Property Litigation Attorneys in 2018 and the Rising Stars list from 2011 to 2012. His educational background laid the foundation for his success. Despite initially pursuing a career in acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, he later earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, summa cum laude, at Kean University. Following this, he obtained a Juris Doctorate from the Seton Hall University School of Law, where he concentrated on intellectual property law. His tenure at Seton Hall was marked by numerous accolades, including recognition as a dean scholar and serving as an associate editor for the Seton Hall Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Baton is actively engaged in various legal organizations, serving as a master in the John C. Lifland American Inn of Court and as a trustee for the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. His commitment to ethical conduct is reflected in his participation in his firm’s ethics committee. Outside of his legal career, he dedicates time to philanthropic endeavors, serving as the president of Stad’s Crabfest Inc., a nonprofit corporation focused on supporting those affected by cancer. He also shares his passion for music as a lead vocalist at his local church. An avid supporter of sports programs, Mr. Baton previously served as the President of the Westfield School Boosters Association. Looking ahead, he aims to enhance Saul Ewing LLP’s reputation in intellectual property law by expanding its IP specialty groups and navigating emerging legal issues related to artificial intelligence. He also plans to continue growing his own portfolio within the firm while remaining dedicated to philanthropy and community engagement.
