Maintaining satellite offices in South Dakota and Montana, he also practices in North Dakota and Minnesota, and he has represented clients in Colorado and New Mexico as well. Prior to this position, he was active as a commercial loan processing specialist with Starion Bank from 2016 to 2017. He previously served as an associate attorney with Rodenburg Law Firm between 2015 and 2016. Mr. Ficek began his career as an associate attorney with the Disability Attorneys of Minnesota from 2013 to 2015.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Ficek pursued an education at the University of Minnesota, from which he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2009. He concluded his formal academic studies at the Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2012, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Ficek was admitted to practice law by the Minnesota State Bar Association,
Beyond his primary responsibilities, Mr. Ficek has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate circles. As a committed member of his community, he has contributed to people in need through pro bono services, through which he offers via Minnesota Legal Services. He also remains affiliated with the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives. In light of his impressive achievements, Mr. Ficek was presented with The Equal Access to Justice Award from Minnesota Legal Services in 2010.
Renowned for his diligence and innate curiosity, Mr. Ficek attributes his success to his unwavering commitment to go above and beyond for his clients as well as his dedication to continue enhancing his skills and discover innovate solutions to his clients’ problems. He was drawn to the field of law by his father, who was an accomplished lawyer in his own right and aided him in his early career, but remains driven by his genuine empathy for his clients and the opportunity to lift struggling people out of poverty. Having successfully litigated several significant federal court cases, he is incredibly proud to have co-briefed a victory before the U.S. Federal Court for the Eighth Circuit, which is only one level below the Supreme Court of the United States.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Ficek hopes to raise awareness about Social Security disability law and combat misinformation about the subject. He believes many people are unaware of their constitutional right to due process and a hearing if injured at their place of employment or unable to work on a full-time basis as a result of chipping into their Social Security disability benefits via the Federal Insurance Contributions Act. Mr. Ficek also aims to inform those in need about their eligibility for Medicare, which is available to those who have qualified for Social Security disability benefits for more than 24 months, regardless of their age.
