Title: Attorney
Company: Funderburk Law
Location: Phenix City, Alabama, United States

Kenneth L. Funderburk, Esq., Attorney at Funderburk Law, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in litigation.

With decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Funderburk has excelled as an attorney and senior partner with Funderburk Law Group in Phenix City, Alabama since 1985. Having been affiliated with the law firm under different branding for over two decades prior, he had been additionally active as the co-founder and co-owner of a chain of pawn shops that have operated across five states for over 40 years. He also served as a part-time county attorney in Russell County, Alabama for 15 years. Notably, Mr. Funderburk has found additional success outside of the courtroom as a real estate developer, rental property owner, and motel operator.

To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Funderburk pursued an education at Samford College, formerly known as Howard College, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology in 1957. He continued his academic efforts with master’s degree coursework in sociology at Mississippi State University. He eventually concluded his studies at the University of Alabama in 1965, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in banking, corporate, finance and securities law. A member of the Alabama State Bar, Mr. Funderburk has notably been admitted to pracitce before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama.

Beyond his primary responsibilities within the field of law, Mr. Funderburk has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his immediate circles. During his time in the U.S. Army, he advanced to become a chaplain’s assistant, an interrogator, the director of the female choir, and a private, second-class (E-2). Furthermore, he has proudly penned two published books, including “Medusa’s Lair: A Chic Sparks—Fish House Gang Novel” for ArchwayPublishing in 2017 and “The Fish House Gang” for Authors’ Tranquility Press in 2022. As a testament to his impressive undertakings, Mr. Funderburk has accrued several accolades throughout his career, including awards from real estate associations and regional churches, the Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary International, and an award from the Fraternal Order of Police in 2024.

Mr. Funderburk has attributed his success to his fearlessness, which enables him to face his challenges directly, embrace any opportunity without hesitation, and foster a sense of determination toward any challenge in his path. He initially harbored a passion and talent for music, which allowed him to fund his education yet had not been a financially viable option for a full-time career, ultimately leading him to the field of law. Utilizing a business-oriented approach to his practice, he is proud to have litigated the first ethanol case in the United States, Phenix Federal Savings & Loan Association v. Shearson Loeb Rhoades Inc., though he is incredibly grateful to embrace his creative side as a mentor to young musicians and vocalists as well as an independent painter whose work has adorned his office. Looking toward the future, Mr. Funderburk hopes to continue preserving the legacy of The Funderburk Law Group while shepherding the burgeoning legal careers of his son and painting in his spare time.
