Mr. Howell initiated his educational pursuit by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Indiana University Bloomington in 1978, followed by a Juris Doctor from George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School in 1989. He is also an approved instructor with the Virginia Insurance Continuing Education Board. Mr. Howell’s legal career spans various significant roles, starting as an associate attorney at Melrod Redman & Gartlin from 1990 to 1992. Subsequently, he worked at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. from 1992 to 1997, followed by Schraub Howell & Company from 1997 to 2003. He then joined Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, serving from 2003 to 2016.
Mr. Howell established and became principal at the Law Offices of Danny M. Howell, PLLC, from 2016 to the present. Currently, he serves as principal at Howell & Rowlett PLLC, established in 2023, focusing on representing lawyers and handling ethics issues, professional liability suits, and insurance coverage work. Mr. Howell’s achievements and contributions in the legal arena have earned him esteemed accolades, including the 2022 National Business Institute Outstanding Faculty Award, the Virginia Business Virginia Legal Elite recognition for Appellate Law in 2015, and acknowledgment as a Fellow of the National Institute for Teaching Ethics and Professionalism in 2007. He holds an AV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Beyond his legal endeavors, Mr. Howell has devoted time to teaching, advocating, and addressing bias and diversity issues in the legal profession. His commitment to legal education extends to conducting Continuing Legal Education courses for various organizations, and he was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award from the National Business Institute in recognition of his invaluable contributions to legal education.
