Melissa M. Verpile, Esq., director of the Democracy, Gender, and Inclusion Program at Parliamentarians for Global Action, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public policy and development.
With a decade of experience, Ms. Verpile has demonstrated exceptional leadership as the director of the Democracy, Gender, and Inclusion Program at Parliamentarians for Global Action since 2023. Her journey with the organization began in 2015 as a consultant and program assistant for the International Law and Human Rights Programme. Progressing within the institution, she served as a program associate for the Gender Equality and Population Programme in 2016 and later assumed the role of senior legal officer for the International Law and Human Rights Programme in 2017. From 2012 to 2023, she made significant contributions as the director of the Democratic Renewal and Human Rights Campaign. Prior to her tenure at Parliamentarians for Global Action, she also served as legal counsel at Ernst Valery Investments Corp from 2014 to 2015.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Verpile pursued an education at the Université Paris Descartes where she earned a License in Law in 2009 and a master’s degree in public law in 2011. She continued her academic efforts and obtained a master’s degree in public policy and development, graduating as the valedictorian in 2012. She concluded her studies at Fordham University School of Law, completing a Master of Laws in the United States and comparative law in 2014. She holds certifications in conversational interviewing, how to achieve sustainable development goals, and The Future of Work: Preparing for Disruption.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Verpile has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She found success with her multiple written works, including “The Role of Intergovernmental Organizations in the Protection of Human Rights: Contemporary Perspectives” in 2021 and “Integrity and the Preservation of Independence in International Criminal Justice” in 2020. She took part in an interview on the issue of abortion in the United States and Argentina, which was published in El Senate in 2018, and an interview on children and early and forced marriage, which was published in LaPresse in 2016.
In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Verpile remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa sorority, American Bar Association, and African Affairs Committee of the New York City Bar Association, of which she also served as chair. She held the role of chair of the Committee on Global Affairs. In the immediate future, she aspires to offer counsel to an individual aspiring to hold public office and harbors ambitions of pursuing her own candidacy for political office.
