Joseph Ronan, principal at Ronan Law Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business law.

Mr. Ronan has had a distinguished career of more than four decades, beginning in 1983 as an associate at Blank Rome, LLP, until 1987. He served as the general attorney to the tax department at Bell Atlantic, now Verizon, between 1987 and 1999. He acted as a partner to the senior counsel at Morgan Lewis between 1999 and 2016. In 2016, he opened his practice, Ronan Law Group, where he continues to thrive. He also contributes to Villanova Law School as an adjunct professor.

Attributing his success to his parents, Mr. Ronan respects the hardships they encountered throughout the Great Depression and World War II. With them in mind, he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Haverford College in 1976. He subsequently obtained a Juris Doctor and a Master of Laws in taxation from the New York University School of Law in 1979. He was additionally admitted to the New York Bar and the Philadelphia Bar.

Mr. Ronan participates as a member of the American Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, and the Philadelphia Bar Association. He also dedicates much of his time to charitable organizations such as the Friends Select School, Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and Haverford College. His prior volunteer positions include pro bono counsel for Philabundance between 1999 and 2004 and chair of the select board for the Town of Sharon, Vermont, between 2018 and 2021.

Mr. Ronan’s standout accomplishment involves negotiating the CEO contracts for both companies during the Bell Atlantic-Nynex merger. Currently, he is authoring an article that delves into tax laws and their implications on executive compensation. Looking ahead, his goal is to publish the article, demonstrating his commitment and providing a foundation for professionals aspiring to enter the field.
