Kattina V. Barsik, independent attorney at law specializing in patents, trademarks and proprietary material, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in patent and copyright law.
With 15 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Barsik has excelled as an attorney at law specializing in patents, trademarks and proprietary material at her own private practice since 2010. She writes applications for patents, trademarks, or copyrights, files them, and monitors the application until it is accepted. She prepares her briefs for her arguments and, when necessary, engages in litigation. She began her career as a public arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and as a researcher at Wake Forest University. She established herself as an IP associate for her solo practice from 2006 to 2010.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Barsik pursued an education at Cedar Crest College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in genetic engineering in 2000. She continued her academic efforts at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctorate and a Master of Laws in intellectual property in 2006. She has been licensed to practice law by the New Jersey State Bar Association and is a licensed patent attorney through the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Barsik has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She contributed to the volunteer workshop at Northampton Community College and volunteered with the New Jersey Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and the Circassian Benevolent Association. In addition to her primary vocation, she remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association, the New Jersey Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and the International Society of Female Professionals. Additionally, she writes articles about intellectual properties on her blog and presents her works at organizations related to her field.
Ms. Barsik’s most notable achievement is going through law school and staying as a solo practitioner for many years. She attributes her success to the support of her family including her husband, parents, brother, and sister. In the immediate future, she would love to expand her business and services, especially business law, by taking on additional associates and possibly an additional partner to reduce her management responsibilities and duties.
