Curtis L. Brown, mediator at Strategic Mediations, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for his dedication, achievements, and leadership.

Backed by years of professional experience in numerous areas of law, Mr. Brown excels as a mediator with Strategic Mediations, serving as mediator in disputes of all types, including large and complex legal actions. He successfully mediated a case with 36 parties, attorneys and insurance representatives. He had the privilege of mediating a lawsuit in which a Federal Judge was personally a party.

Before practicing law and mediation, Mr. Brown gained valuable expertise as a certified public accountant for a large international accounting firm, becoming a senior tax accountant for the fourth largest corporation in the United States at that time. He began his law practice with a larger firm in Dallas and subsequently co-founded Brown, Baskin, Bickel, and Brewer Attorneys at Law, based in Dallas, Texas, representing private and public companies and nonprofit entities, and served as general counsel for Interstate Battery System of America.

In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Brown has lectured on various legal topics, including as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Baylor Law School, as a guest lecturer for other law schools and the State Bar of Texas, and has authored legal articles, including two published by the State Bar of Texas. He also served on the Judiciary Committee of the Dallas Bar Association and on the Board of Directors of the Waco Bar Association, and remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise.

Beyond his professional circles, Mr. Brown has participated in numerous endeavors and has sat on executive and leadership boards of numerous academic, civic, and charitable organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and chairs the Finance Committee of 21Wilberforce, an international group based in Falls Church, Virginia advocating for religious freedom for people of all faiths that has, notably, helped rescue more than 700 Afghan refugees from Afghanistan. He has held the role of chair of World Hunger Relief Institute and Art Center Waco and served on the board of the Rotary Club of Waco. At the Baylor Law School Veterans Legal Clinic, he gives free legal services to veterans.

After receiving his BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech University, Mr. Brown earned his Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law in 1976. He likewise completed international law courses at The University of Oxford and the London School of Economics.

Together with his wife of 45 years, Mr. Brown lives on the Brazos Bluffs Ranch near Waco Texas. The longest river in Texas, the Brazos River, meets the longest fault in Texas, the Balcones Fault, on their ranch. Tens of thousands have ridden horses on their ranch to enjoy the spectacular views from their escarpment. In the immediate future, Mr. Brown intends to finish his autobiography and establish a nonprofit organization to seek common ground among entities with opposing missions to reduce polarization in the United States.
