Warren D. Woessner, PhD, principal and founding shareholder of Schwegman Lundberg & Woessner, P.A., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of biotechnology law.
Dr. Woessner leverages more than five decades of experience as a proven expert in the field of law. Well-versed in biotechnology and chemistry, he serves as a principal and founding shareholder of Schwegman Lundberg & Woessner, P.A., which began in 1993. As a leader within his legal institution, primarily conducts a wealth of expert witness work, offering his knowledge to a variety of cases both in and out of the courts. Likewise, Dr. Woessner regularly appears to speak at conferences, in addition to publishing many articles and pieces pertaining to his work in the field.
In his creative endeavors, Dr. Woessner has notably authored several essays and papers on the topic of various court cases. One of his most important pieces was “American Intellectual Property Law Association Amicus Briefs to the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court in J.E.M. Ag Supply v. Pioneer Hi-Bred.” He also published “Storm Lines: A Collection of Poems” in 1987, as part of the Minnesota Voices Project. Furthermore, Dr. Woessner manages his own blog, Patents4Life.
At the onset of his career, Dr. Woessner worked with Miles Laboratories from 1972 to 1978. He also previously operated as an associate attorney at Kenyon & Kenyon between 1981 and 1984, and he was a partner at Merchant & Gould in Minneapolis in 1989. Ever committed to his profession, he similarly remains affiliated with several industry-related organizations, including the board of directors of the Foundation for Advancement of Diversity in IP Law.
As part of his vocational journey, Dr. Woessner also pursued a formal education, originally earning a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry at Cornell University in 1966. He subsequently continued his studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he achieved a PhD in organic chemistry in 1971 and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1981. In addition to his academic credentials, he is a fully certified licensing professional and a registered patent attorney. Furthermore, Dr. Woessner has been admitted to practice law by the State Bar of Wisconsin.
To commemorate his achievements, Dr. Woessner was honored as a fellow of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Likewise, he has been named a Minnesota Super Lawyer. In light of his fulfilling career, he has largely attributed his success to his outgoing personality. Accounting for his accomplishments, he is most notably proud to have aided a professor at the University of Minnesota in securing 15 patents for new medications for the treatment of AIDS in 1988. In the coming years, Dr. Woessner hopes to continue making a positive difference in his industry.
