Bolstered by more than 20 years of work experience, Ms. Essick brings all of her experiences to her practice in the field of law. She has served as an associate in the New York offices of Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP since 2021 and her practice areas have included financial law, particularly as it pertains to corporate transactions, debt finance, restructuring and special situations, with experience in tax strategy and estate planning. Prior to her current appointment, she worked with Ropes & Gray LLP in New York between 2020 and 2021. Furthermore, she was a restructuring associate for Kirkland & Ellis LLP, based in Chicago, Illinois, from 2018 to 2020. From 2007 to 2015, she worked her way up the ranks in several roles, starting as a consultant and moving into sales and account management, at FactSet Research Systems, Inc., At the onset of her career, Ms. Essick excelled as a legal assistant and secretary in the Law Offices of Roy Lewis, Esq. P.A. in Jacksonville, Florida, between 2002 and 2004.
Adjacent to her primary duties, Ms. Essick is an active board member for the finance committee of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Metro Suburban. Likewise, she is the chair for the organization’s governance committee. As part of her vocational journey, she also pursued a formal education, ultimately achieving, both, a Juris Doctor at the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and a Master in Business Administration at the Kellogg School of Management in 2018. In addition to her academic credentials, Ms. Essick has been admitted to practice law by the Illinois State Bar Association. To commemorate her accomplishments, she has been honored with several accolades throughout her career, including several fellowships alongside her colleagues in the field and being named to the dean’s list at Northwestern University for 2017 and 2018. Attributing much of her success to her passion for helping others, Ms. Essick is notably proud of her contributions within NAMI.
