Specializing as a prosecutor for the United State Air Force Trial Judiciary, he served as an attorney for Cannon & Weinstein in Barrington, Illinois, from 1996 until retiring in 2000. He previously operated as an attorney for Cannon & Powell from 1986 to the early 1990s. Mr. Cannon began his career by honorably joining the United States military, serving with the Air force in Southeast Asia from 1970 into the early 1980s and as an admiral in the Texas Navy.

To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, Mr. Cannon has been honored with several accolades, including a Meritorious Service Medal and a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon from the Air Force. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, he pursued a formal education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in history at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in 1966 and a Juris Doctor at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1969. Attributing much of his success to his training and education at the Citadel, he is notably proud to have acquired justice for both plaintiffs and defendants alike. In the coming years, Mr. Cannon hopes to write a novel.
