Stacey J. Mills, Esq., Agency Attorney with the New York City Department of Finance, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the legal profession.
Since March 2022, Ms. Mills has worked as an agency attorney with the New York City Department of Finance. In this role, she serves as in house counsel: Information and Real Property. In this unit she provides legal advice and services in support of a full range of city tax and other revenue-related matters, such as real property tax, exemptions, business income, tax-map, land records and FOIL. Additionally, she advises operating divisions and prepare cases for administrative review. Prior to her current post, she worked as a compliance manager with the New York City Department of Corrections from 2018 to 2022, and from 2009 to 2018, she was founder and managing attorney of the Law Offices of Stacey J. Mills. Ms. Mills was recognized by the Brooklyn Borough President in 2012 for her commitment to community service as a Board of Manager for the Mill Harbor Condominium Association.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Mills attended Howard University, graduating in 1999, cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in radio, television, and film. In 2003, she graduated with a Jurist Doctorate, with a concentration in International Business Transactions, from Western Michigan Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Ms. Mills is a member of the Howard University Alumni Association, the Civil Service Bar Association, and the Golden Key Honor Society. She attributes her success to her resilience and determination, along with the support of her immediate and extended family, who have patronized her business and referred clients to help expand her practice. In the coming years, Ms. Mills hopes to work for New York City in a higher position where her impact can be greater in the community and beyond.
