Having accrued over two decades of experience, Ms. Coleman is a proven expert in the field of immigration law. Since 2015, she has served as the owner and attorney at RC Immigration LLC. In her current role, she works with corporate leaders and human resources professionals from a wide range of industries to develop immigration strategies. Furthermore, she guides families and individuals in obtaining visas, residency status and citizenship. Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Coleman operated as an attorney at Sidney Austin LLP from 2007 to 2014 and as a senior legal writer in immigration law at a small law firm in Chicago, Illinois, from 1998 to 2003.
Adjacent to her primary professional endeavors, Ms. Coleman worked as an adjunct professor at the DePaul University College of Law in 2019. She is also well regarded as a civic-minded citizen in her community, regularly volunteering with the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) and participating as a member of the Occupational Advisory Committee of Midwestern Career College. As part of her dedication to her profession, she remains affiliated with the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Furthermore, Ms. Coleman is a member of the Federal Bar Association, and she is licensed to practice law by the Illinois State Bar Association.
Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Coleman pursued a formal education. She began her studies at Dalhousie University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and English literature in 1990. She subsequently continued her studies and earned a Master of Arts in English literature at McGill University in 1993. Furthermore, she received a Master of Philosophy and a Master of Arts in English literature and medieval English at Yale University in 1997. Ms. Coleman finally achieved a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 2007 at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2007.
In light of her accomplished career, Ms. Coleman attributes much of her success to her own history as an immigrant. Originally from Canada, she has found her own experiences to be useful in building positive relationships with clients and making them feel comfortable. Over the course of her career, she has been most notably proud to have opened her own firm and to have raised her son. In the coming years, Ms. Coleman hopes to continue growing her business, faithfully serving her clientele, and teaching courses in law school.
