Licensed to practice law by the Florida Bar since 1992, he has notably represented cases before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida over the course of his career. Moreover, Mr. Truitt has been active as a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the Miami-Dade County Bar Association, the American Institute of Architects, the Construction Association of South Florida and the Professional Liability Attorneys Network.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Truitt pursued an education at Rollins College, earning a Bachelor of Science in English language and literature, cum laude, in 1988. He concluded his academic efforts at the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, from which he graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1992. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Truitt became board certified as a specialist in construction law in Florida in 2011.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Truitt has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. Since 2002, he has been recognized with an A-V rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Likewise, he has been honored among America’s Top Civil Litigators and the Best Lawyers by U.S. News & World Report. Attributing his success to his intellectual curiosity and his tough-but-fair approach to the law, Mr. Truitt is incredibly proud of establishing the construction group at Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A. as well as the opportunity to help an engineer have his qualifications reinstated from the Florida Department of Transportation. He has been greatly inspired by his father, an undercover agent for the ATF, as well as Mark Horwitz, an esteemed attorney. Looking toward the future, Mr. Truitt hopes to explore living outside of the United States while dedicating his legal expertise to mediation and operating as an adjunct professor at a regional law school.
