With more than 20 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Sweet Zavaglia has excelled as the senior vice president and U.S. general counsel for National Grid since 2019. She previously worked for the aforementioned company in a number of positions, advancing from an associate attorney to senior counsel between 2006 and 2011 before serving as an assistant general counselor and director of New York regulations, the acting vice president for Upstate New York gas operations, the vice president of New York performance and strategy, the vice president and the deputy general counsel between 2011 and 2019. Ms. Sweet Zavaglia began her impressive legal career as an assistant district attorney for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office from 2002 to 2005.
Prior to embarking on her professional path, Ms. Sweet Zavaglia pursued an education at Temple University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism, public relations and advertising in 1999. She concluded her formal academic efforts at the Beasley School of Law at Temple University in 2002, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. As a testament to her stellar accomplishments, she was honored among the Power 50 by the National Diversity and Leadership Council in 2022. Looking toward the future, Ms. Sweet Zavaglia will continue helping National Grid, The Energy Transition Company, implement its vision for a fossil-free future while delivering safe, reliable, and affordable service to its more than 7 million customers across New York and Massachusetts.
