Walter Sargent, Attorney, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in civil litigation.
After initially obtaining Bachelors of Science in philosophy as well as computer science and engineering in 1980 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Mr. Sargent continued his education with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Harvard Law School in 1987, where he was a John M. Olin Fellow and recipient of the Olin Prize for outstanding writing in law and economics. He is licensed to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third, Sixth, Ninth, Tenth and Federal Circuits as well as the state of Colorado and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Since 1996, Mr. Sargent has excelled in private practice in Colorado Springs, specializing in civil litigation. He is a past chair of the Appellate Practice Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation, a co-founder of the Colorado Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Subcommittee, and a fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and has published a number of books on appellate practice that include “Appellate Practice in Federal and State Courts” and “Appellate Practice Compendium.”
Mr. Sargent served his country with the U.S. Air Force for four years. One of his undergraduate degrees was in philosophy which he enjoyed, and he was specifically attracted to philosophy of law, which inspired him to pursue a career in law.
