Victor A. Ramos-Rodriguez, Attorney at Ramos-Rodriguez Law Office, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in legal matters.
Mr. Ramos-Rodriguez attended Manhattan College from 1974 to 1978 to earn a bachelor’s degree before subsequently obtaining a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Puerto Rico, graduating in 1981. He helped to prosecute criminals for eight years as an assistant district attorney, then transitioned into private law as a defense lawyer with the Ramos-Rodriguez law office.
Formerly an elite track and field athlete, Mr. Ramos-Rodriguez represented Puerto Rico in the Pan-American and Central American games in 1988. He garnered a place on the Puerto Rican Olympic team but did not attend the games, as the Olympics were banned by the United States that year; Puerto Rico joined the ban and did not compete. He remains active in athletics as an administrative judge in the administrative court of the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee. He also works as a scout master with the Boy Scouts of America and received multiple commendations for his leadership and mentorship.
Specializing in criminal law, Mr. Ramos-Rodriguez served as the vice president and a member on the board of directors for the Legal Aid Society in Puerto Rico from 2010 to 2019. He was inspired to study law because of his father, who is also an attorney. His most notable career achievement came in 1986, when he investigated and prosecuted the Dupont Plaza Hotel case in which 96 people lost their lives, which was nationally famous in Puerto Rico and is still considered to be one of the biggest legal cases in the territory’s history. He attributes his success to a strong work ethic and determination.
Mr. Ramos-Rodriguez will continue to practice law and hopes to find ways to provide legal aid to underprivileged people in his community. As a bilingual speaker of Spanish and English, he can communicate with many potential clients. One memorable case in his career was one he did not want to take initially. When asking for his help, the potential client told him that they needed an honest lawyer, which is exactly what he is. After the case, the client gave him a plaque thanking him for his help.
