Since 2019, Ms. Tataryn has provided superior service with premier law firm Nolan, Thompson, Leighton & Tataryn, PLC in Hopkins. She devotes a substantial portion of her practice to clients seeking long-term disability benefits and other employee benefits. Denise has been practicing in the employment law area for over 25 years and gained a special expertise with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act while working with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. In addition to successfully representing hundreds of disabled clients, Ms. Tataryn practices a wide range of general employment law, representing clients in matters ranging from discrimination to employment contract, non-compete and wrongful termination disputes.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in business administration, magna cum laude, in 1982 from Minnesota State University in Mankato, Ms. Tataryn continued her education with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1986 from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul. She began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Pamela G. Alexander, Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis, from 1986 to 1987. Ms. Tataryn excelled as an associate attorney with Mansfield & Tanick in Minneapolis from 1987 to 1991 and a senior attorney with the Office of the General Counsel, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation in Washington from 1991 to 1997. With Mansfield, Tanick & Cohen, Ms. Tataryn flourished as an associate attorney from 1999 to 2003 and partner and shareholder from 2004 to 2012, and attorney and partner with Hellmuth & Johnson from 2012 to 2019.

Ms. Tatryn has been named a Super Lawyer by Minnesota Law & Politics and Super Lawyers from 2007 to 2012, in Top 40 Employment Lawyers by Super Lawyers in 2011, in Top 50 Women Super Lawyers, Minnesota Law & Politics and Super Lawyers and in Top 100 Women Super Lawyers, Minnesota Law & Politics. She has been a fellow in the American Bar Foundation and a council member in the Minnesota Bar Association.

Ms. Tataryn attributes her success to being driven and wanting the best for her clients. She was mentored by Seymour Mansfield on the law firm in which she first practiced. Her goal in the coming years is to extend her practice and hopefully bring someone else on board to expand the work that she is doing.
