James Heath Dillon, Attorney at Heath Dillon Law LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in criminal, employment and military litigation.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 1993 from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches, Mr. Dillon continued his education with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1996 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Following graduating from law school, he served his country for the next eight years as an officer in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, attaining the rank of major.
Upon retiring from the Army in 2004, Mr. Dillon provided superior service as a Department of the Army Civilian Administrative Law Attorney with the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps at Fort Polk, Louisiana until 2005, and subsequently chief of the Corps’ Administrative and Civil Law Division until 2019, with his specialties including contracts, labor and employment law, military investigations, regulatory and statutory interpretation, real estate and environmental law. In 2019, he founded his private practice, Heath Dillon Law LLC, in Leesville.
Recognizing his prowess as a litigator, Mr. Dillon has received numerous honors including Excellence in Criminal Defense Law and Military Law by Lawyers of Distinction; Top 10 Criminal Defense Attorney by Attorney and Practice Magazine, 2021; Top 10 Louisiana Criminal Defense Attorney by the American Institute of Legal Counsel; and Top 100 Criminal Defense Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Dillon attributes his success to his wife for her love and support that she has provided him, which led him to who he is today. Having the small victories in which he was able to help those who are less advantaged in life has been what Mr. Dillon considers to be most notable accomplishment. He is proud of being able to help the people resolve their legal problems in a system that is not often fair to people who are underserved and are less privileged.
In the coming years, Mr. Dillon hopes to be able to contribute to the community in a meaningful fashion. He also hopes to be involved in a local political aspect as well as to become more involved and active in the local community than he was as a government employee.
