Kathryn Lorsbach, County Attorney at Clearwater County, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in civil administration.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government in 2012 from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, Ms. Lorsbach continued her education with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, in 2015 from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul.
After beginning her legal career as a paralegal with Tarrant & Liska, PLLC from 2011 to 2013, Ms. Lorsbach served as a law clerk with Anoka County Office of the Public Defender from 2013 to 2015 and a judicial law clerk with the Anoka County District Court from 2015 to 2017. She subsequently found success as an assistant public defender with the 9th District Public Defenders Office from 2017 to 2021.
Since 2021, Ms. Lorsbach has flourished as County Attorney with Clearwater County, providing legal advice to assist the county in providing many public services such as waste management, child protection and the protection of vulnerable adults. Other areas of civil advice include defending challenges to property tax values, representing the Human Services Department on welfare appeals, enforcing county environment and health ordinances, and forfeiting property used in connection with criminal activity.
Ms. Lorsbach attributes her success to her drive. She grew up with hard working parents and grandparents, who instilled in her the belief that the work ethic is the most important thing and to give her all in everything she does. She considers her career highlight to be her appointment as county attorney. In addition, Ms. Lorsbach is also very proud of her last clerkship with Judge Jonathan Jasper, with whom she has maintained a close friendship. Her work as a public defender was also meaningful to her. In the coming years, she is hoping for continued success as a county attorney and aspires to a judgeship.
