Gerald Snow, Attorney of Counsel at Ray Quinney & Nebeker PC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in tax and estate planning.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1969, with honors, from Stanford University in California, Mr. Snow continued his education with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1972 from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He later followed with a Master of Laws in taxation in 1976 from New York University, a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics in 2014 from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and a master’s degree in linguistics in 2017 from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Mr. Snow has been admitted to the State Bars of California and Utah and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, United States Tax Court and Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
As counsel with Ray Quinney & Nebeker, one of the largest and most reputable law firms in Utah, Mr. Snow specializes in estate planning and business planning. He is the former chairman of the firm’s Tax and Estate Planning Section and his estate planning practice has included estates from under $1 million to estates of over $100 million. Mr. Snow has counseled and assisted clients in the utilization of a variety of sophisticated estate planning techniques, such as family partnerships and limited liability companies, dynasty trusts, charitable lead and remainder trusts, GRATs, irrevocable life insurance trusts, defective grantor trusts, split-dollar agreements, foundations and charitable support organizations. His practice also includes estate administration, the probate of estates, and the filing of complicated estate tax returns.
Mr. Snow’s professional honors include selection to The Best Lawyers in America in Trusts and Estates and Tax Law; Tax Law “Lawyer of the Year,” and Lawyer of the Year in Salt Lake City, by Best Lawyers; an AV Preeminent (5.0) rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a respected peer ratings service; selection to The Best Lawyers in America; and selection to Mountain States Super Lawyers in the category of Estate Planning and Probate Law. Intelligent networking and having a good reputation are major foundations on which Mr. Snow was able to build a successful career in the legal field. He also credits his success to his strong faith, feeling fortunate that he found the religion that clicked with him early in his life. The values made so much sense that he responded and built his life around them. Mr. Snow believes that his most notable achievement has been getting married and having a family. He has been happily married for 44 years and has four adopted children aged 23 thru 40. In 2009, he and his wife served on a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints mission together in Italy.
Currently, Mr. Snow is essentially retired and has had a very fulfilling career over the years, satisfied with what currently keeps him busy professionally. He has newfound fascinations including model railroading, and still continues to be involved with the Boy Scouts, which he has been doing for 30 years.
