Augustus Brown, President at Brown, Brown & Young, P.A., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in injury and workers’ compensation litigation.
After obtaining Bachelors of Arts in English literature, expository writing and philosophy from Villanova University in 1971, Mr. Brown earned a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1974. After clerking with Judge William J. O’Donnell in the Court of Appeals of Maryland from 1974 to 1976, Mr. Brown excelled as an associate attorney with Brown, Brown and Lenihan from 1976 to 1985.
Mr. Brown entered academia on the faculty of the National College of Advocacy with the American Association for Justice, with whichhe provided superior education from 1987 to 2010. With Keenan Ball College from 2013 to 2015, he was recognized as the Faculty Member of the Year.
As the co-owner of the firm Brown, Brown & Young, Mr. Brown has flourished in practice in federal and state courts in the fields of automotive injury, defective products, highway construction crashes and workers’ compensation claims since 1986, in addition to defending clients in criminal cases both in state and federal courts. With Jury Research Services since 2005, he serves as a trial consultant, a jury focus group facilitator and the owner since 2010. Affiliated with as an instructor with the Maryland State Bar Association, Mr. Brown has also contributed frequently to various professional journals.
Mr. Brown is the past president of both the Maryland Association for Justice and the Maryland chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a diplomate of the American Association for Justice and the past chairperson of the character committee for the Second Appellate Circuit. In addition, he has received the Best Lawyers of America Award from Martindale-Hubbell, as well as the Hueisler Honor Society Award for Academic Excellence.
Attributing his success to his passion for justice, disdain for intolerance and hard work, Mr. Brown would like to facilitate more jury focus groups in the coming years and gradually slow down his day-to-day activities with Brown, Brown & Young.
