Laura Coffin, Partner at Luvaas Cobb, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in defense litigation.

Since 2020, Ms. Coffin has provided superior service of counsel and later as a partner with Luvaas Cobb, a premier law firm in Eugene, with her practice specializing on representing people accused of crimes, appellate work, and civil litigation, bringing over a decade of experience in litigation.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in English literature from the University of Oregon in Eugene in 2004, Ms. Coffin continued her education with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Oregon School of Law in 2007. She began her legal career as a trial attorney with the Public Defender of Marion County, where she provided superior service from 2007 to 2011.

Ms. Coffin then prospered as a deputy defender with the Oregon State Public Defense Services Appellate Division from 2011 to 2018 and an assistant federal public defender from 2018 to 2020, where she represented indigent defendants on direct appeal of criminal cases. She advocated for hundreds of clients during all stages, from arraignment through sentencing, and has won major sentencing, search-and-seizure cases and negotiated many victories for her clients.

Ms. Coffin attributes her success to her compassion for her clients. She was inspired to enter the legal profession by her father, a former federal prosecutor, and observed trials while growing up. In the coming years, her ambition is to become a federal judge and she would also like a position that enables her to write more.
