William P. Pelkey

Title: District Judge/Magistrate Judge (Retired)
Location: Brownsville, Pennsylvania, United States

William P. Pelkey, Retired District/Magistrate Judge, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law.

Mr. Pelkey commenced his career serving as a staff advocate judge for the American Legion Post 377, which he did for one decade. Having been a commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars for one year, he went on to work in labor relations for the Steelworkers Union for 22 years. During this time, he began thinking that most of the people represented directly in a union were less than one percent of the union body. He wanted to be on the other side of that and was able to replace a district judge that was retiring soon. Mr. Pelkey acquired his position and excelled as a district/magistrate judge for two decades until retiring in 2008.

At the start of his career, Mr. Pelkey earned an Associate of Arts in personnel management, as well as a paralegal certification. Finding great success throughout the course of his career, he was the recipient of an Outstanding Young Man American Award from the American Jaycees and an Outstanding Community Service Award from Cooper Industries, in which he was also granted a check that he chose to donate to the Lions Club. Citing these honors as career highlights, Mr. Pelkey attributes his success to looking at the success of others and believing that if they could do it, he could do it too. A member of the National Rifle Association and Judicial Watch, he has also served as chairman of the Civil Service Commission and on the Senatorial Borough Council.
