Paul Ewing Walker, partner at Ewing Medical Law, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical law.
Mr. Walker is an attorney with more than 40 years of experience specializing in medical and disability insurance law. His practice concentrates on representing providers against employers, insurers, and licensure boards, including cases involving professional conduct disputes, licensure sanctions, and Medicare or HMO billing disputes. Mr. Walker earned his Bachelor of Arts at Dickinson College in 1965, and served as an officer in the United States Navy between 1965 and 1969.
After completing his military service, Mr. Walker continued his education and was awarded his Juris Doctor by Fordham Law School in 1973. He began his career in 1974 as a legal assistant to the Honorable Edward Thompson, an Administrative Judge in the Civil Court of the City of New York, and became an associate of the law office of Anthony L. Schiavetti, Esq., later known as Employers Insurance of Wausau, the same year. Mr. Walker left Employers Insurance of Wausau in 1979 to become a member of Peltz & Walker, where he would practice until 2013. Currently, Mr. Walker is of counsel at DOPF, P.C.
Throughout his career, Mr. Walker has been sworn in to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the United States Court of Military Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He has lectured for seminars and conferences including the Special Surgery Alumni Annual Knee and Spine Symposia, and addressed hospital and physician groups on topics including risk management and continuing education. Mr. Walker has been published in the Journal of the Medical Society of the State of New York, consulted for the Office of Professional Medical Conduct, and is the past president of the New York State Medical Malpractice Defense Association. In recognition of his commitment to excellence in practice, Mr. Walker holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Rating, is a longtime New York State Super Lawyer, and has been consistently named one of the Top Attorneys in the New York Metro Area.
