Growing up in rural Georgia, Mr. Reese wanted to provide accessible legal services to clients in remote or underserved communities. He graduated from Albany State University with a Bachelor of Science in 2003 and earned a Master of Public Administration from Georgia College & State University in 2005. In 2012, he graduated cum laude from the Florida A&M University College of Law and was admitted to practice law in the State of Florida. During this time, he clerked for the Honorable Marc L. Lubet with the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in their Felony Division. After relocating to Columbus, Georgia, Mr. Reese was admitted to practice in the State of Georgia and served as director of community operations and affairs at the Georgia Appleseed Center for Law and Justice from 2013 until 2018. Since 2018, he has been the principal owner and managing attorney of The Reese Firm, LLC, and between 2017 and 2020, he taught criminal justice and paralegal courses at Miller-Motte Technical College.
Mr. Reese is the recipient of honors including the 2003 National Association of Student Affairs Professionals Outstanding Student of the Year Award, the 2012 Center for Legal Education Opportunity Diversity Leadership Award, and the 2012 American Bar Association Law Student Division Golden Key Award, and was featured in Columbus and the Valley Magazine. Furthermore, Mr. Reese was recognized among Top 5 Under 40 Professionals, Rural Leader Magazine Top Professional Under 40, and Georgia Trend Magazine Top 40 Under 40. Most recently, he was honored with the Emerging Leader Award at the 36th Annual Black History Month Observance Breakfast in 2021 and the Man of the Year Award from the Men’s Progressive Club of Columbus in 2019.
