Daniel Hochheiser, Criminal Defense Lawyer at the Law Offices of Daniel A. Hochheiser, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyer for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law.
Following the completion of a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Mr. Hochheiser completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University in 1996. After graduating law school, Mr. Hochheiser was appointed to serve as an assistant district attorney for the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office in New York. He was licensed to practice law in New York State in 1997. He is also admitted before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. After working in civil litigation for Lester Schwab Katz & Dwyer, LLP as an associate attorney in 2000, Mr. Hochheiser focused his career on criminal defense. From 2001 to 2007, he was the managing partner of Hochheiser & Hochheiser LLP, and continued to serve as managing partner as the firm grew into Hochheiser Hochheiser & Inwood LLP in 2008. In 2011, Mr. Hochheiser opened his solo practice, the Law Offices of Daniel A. Hochheiser. He represents both private clients in the New York State and Federal courts in New York and indigent clients facing federal charges as a member of the Criminal Justice Act panel for the Southern District of New York in White Plains.
For excellence in his career, Mr. Hochheiser has been honored among the Top 100 of the National Trial Lawyers in 2015 and achieved the designation of Highest-Rated Lawyer with Avvo along with their Client’s Choice Award in 2019. The following year, he was listed as one of the Top Three Criminal Defense Lawyers in Yonkers and he is also AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He considers the highlights of his career not to be the various high-profile cases he has defended successfully, but rather, the favorable results he has achieved for clients with lower profiles. For example, winning a complete acquittal after trial for a New York City Firefighter accused of aggravated vehicular assault counts among Mr. Hochheiser’s proudest moments. In addition to achieving favorable results for hundreds of clients over the past 20 years as a criminal defense lawyer, Mr. Hochheiser also hosted the podcast, “Talkin with Dan Hochheiser,” and has published a chapter in a book, articles, and book reviews addressing criminal justice issues; and has been featured on various television programs to discuss high-profile legal issues. He maintains professional affiliation with the Bronx County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
