Eric Cavanaugh, associate general counsel at Duke Energy Corp., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law.
From as early as second grade, Mr. Cavanaugh knew he wanted to pursue a career in law, and went on to study at Wabash College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1976 and his Juris Doctor at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1980. He is certified by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and has found success as the deputy attorney general and attorney general of Indiana, an attorney with Stokely-Van, Inc. and Treacy, Cohen & Grossman, Attorneys at Law and assistant general counsel for Allied Fidelity Insurance Co.
Mr. Cavanaugh is honored to have been recognized as an Alumni-Admissions Fellow for Outstanding Service in Student Recruitment by the National Association of Wabash Men and presented with accolades including the John P. Collett Award for Outstanding Graduate Service to the Psi Chapter, a Citation for Distinguished and Exceptional Service to the International Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta and the Frank W. Misch Alumni Distinguished Service Award for Devoted Service to Wabash College. Additionally, he has been named an Indiana Super Lawyer for his work in civil litigation and defense by Law & Publications and The Indianapolis Monthly Magazine. Mr. Cavanaugh is a distinguished fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation, the Indianapolis Bar Foundation and has maintained additional affiliations with the American Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association. Though now retired from practice, Mr. Cavanaugh aims to continue his involvement with the Wabash College Alumni through fundraising and recruitment efforts. Additionally, he plans to continue to sit on the investment and finance committees of the Indiana Bar Association.
