Kevin B. Johnson, Professor at Emporia State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law education.
While an undergraduate at Wichita State University, Mr. Johnson took a class on criminal law and recalls that “something clicked.” As he got into it, he found that he liked the research, figuring things out and the variety of people. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in 1978, he attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Washburn University in 1981. The same year, Mr. Johnson entered sole practice in Overland Park, Kansas before serving as assistant district attorney in Wyandotte County, Kansas from 1982 to 1984. He went on to serve as an associate at the Law Office of A.B. Fletcher and the Law Officer of Stan R. Singleton through 1988, then working in private practice in Wichita, Kansas for 25 years until 2013.
Alongside his practice, Mr. Johnson delved into the educational setting, having taught as a professor of law at Kansas Newman College from 1984 to 1996 and Webster University from 1995 to 1999. In 1999, he joined the faculty at Emporia State University, where he remains a professor and general counsel. To remain abreast of his industry, Mr. Johnson holds membership with the National Association College & University Attorneys, American Immigration Lawyers Association, Kansas Bar Association, Wichita Bar Association, and the Wichita Citizen Participation Organization Council. He is also involved with High Plains Drum Corps, Inc. and Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps. To attest to his legacy, Mr. Johnson can also be found in editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in the World.
