Mr. Zapata is a founding partner and litigation manager for Dang & Zapata Law Firm, PLLC and the Dang Law Group, PLLC, where he has been of counsel since 2020. He began his law career as a paralegal at Fulbright & Jaworski, now Norton Rose & Fulbright, specializing in products liability defense cases. A graduate of St. Mary’s University, Mr. Zapata holds a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and returned to St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2017.
While completing his Juris Doctor, Mr. Zapata worked with the Hidalgo County 93rd District Court in addition to assisting in criminal defense cases for the firm of Bires, Schaeffer, & DeBorde. Mr. Zapata describes his legal journey as “stumbling into the field and working hard to find success,” and his first attorney position with the Law Officers of Ezequiel Reyna came while he was still waiting for the results of his bar examination. He considers the opportunity one of the highlights of his career: as a fresh law school graduate, Mr. Zapata was given the opportunity to work on a large docket of personal injury cases, and he found his passion in helping victims of injury find justice and rebuild their lives.
Among Mr. Zapata’s legal victories are two high-profile cases against Allstate Insurance, where he was able to secure excess verdicts for both clients. He is honored to be a managing partner in a legal firm so early in his career, and he looks forward to his continued professional growth and success in the coming years, with the eventual goal of becoming board-certified and shifting his practice to medical affidavits. In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Zapata was named a 2019 Distinguished Law Alumni and he is an active member of the Hidalgo County Young Lawyers Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and the Texas Trial Lawyers’ Association.
