Radding is a partner, intellectual property attorney and a first-chair trial lawyer at Mauriel Kapouytian Woods LLP in New York City. He has litigated diverse patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret cases, acting for both plaintiffs and defendants, involving LED lighting and lighting systems, plastic manufacture, electrochemical devices, ring laser gyroscopes, avionics, medical devices, communications, pharmaceuticals, computer controllers, food equipment, data compression, impact sensors, bicycles, candy, wine, jewelry, personal consumer products, television commercials and vehicle tires, among others. As a registered patent attorney, he has prosecuted patents covering chemical, biotech, and computer-related inventions in diverse industries.
Prior to his current post, Mr. Radding was co-chair of Locke Lord’s ITC Practice Group and co-chair of its Trademark, Copyright and Advertising Practice Group. Before joining Locke Lord, he was head of the intellectual property practice in New York for Morrison & Foerster, as well as a senior partner at Pennie & Edmonds, where he practiced for 30 years. Before the start of his legal career, Mr. Radding was a pharmaceutical chemist at Welcome Research Laboratory and an environmental chemist at Union Carbide Corporation. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Hamilton College in 1971 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Albany Law School of Union University in 1975.
Finding great success throughout the course of his career, Mr. Radding was named to the Best Lawyers in America for Litigation, Intellectual Property, Litigation, Patent and Patent Law from 2016 to 2020 and New York Metro Super Lawyers from 2003 to 2019. In 2015, he was the recipient of a Legal Award from Acquisition International and an M&A Award from Corporate America, among other accomplishments. Beyond his primary career path, Mr. Radding has held a variety of leadership roles with the New York State Bar Association, including as the chairman of several committees and as an active member of their task force on global warming. Likewise, he serves as the vice-chairman of the dispute resolution committee for the Federal Circuit Bar Association and a past chairman of the IP committee for the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, in addition to their technology, media and telecommunications committee. A dedicated civic advocate, Mr. Radding also participated on the board of trustees for the Albany Law School between 2006 and 2021, at which point he was granted emeritus status.
