Having always cultivated an interest in not only solving problems, but also standing up to those who cause them, Ms. Elessie long aspired to become a lawyer. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, with a minor in political science, from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2010, a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Valparaiso University School of Law in 2013 and a master’s degree in psychology from Valparaiso University in 2014. During the course of her schooling, Ms. Elessie had excelled as a staff intern for the House Ways and Means Committee of Maryland, a legal clerk for Gary City Hall Law Department and an intern of the Family Law Practicum at the Valparaiso University School of Law.
In 2013, Ms. Elessie was admitted to practice law in the state of Maryland. She worked with the Embassy of Cameroon as an administrative assistant, through which she helped advise and support the consulate department of the embassy until 2016. Ms. Elessie also worked at the Law Office of Ellen L. Lee from 2013 to 2016, ultimately finding her passion and desire to work with fellow immigrants like herself.
Having entered the United States as a minor, Ms. Elessie focused much of her energies on helping families and children with their immigration issues, which further led her into the field of family law. She served as an associate attorney at the Law Office of Manuel Rivera & Associates between 2017 and 2019 and, since then, has flourished as a senior immigration attorney for Sanabria and Associates PLLC. In this capacity, Ms. Elessie deals with defensive and affirmative asylum cases, special immigrant juvenile status cases, family petitions before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, removal cases, bond cases, visa grants and more.
