Jorge E. Martinez, Certified Public Accountant and Attorney at Martinez and Torres Law Offices PSC has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in accounting and law.

Upon earning a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Puerto Rico in 1988, Mr. Martinez went on to become a certified public accountant. In his first role, he worked as an accountant for Price Waterhouse for six years until 1996 and was recognized for his work with an Excellence Award from the company in 1992. During his time with Price Waterhouse, Mr. Martinez attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from his alma mater, which allowed him to begin working at a local law office. Today, he is admitted to practice law in Puerto Rico and has been sworn in to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, and First District of Puerto Rico.

In 1998, Mr. Martinez established himself as a sole practitioner, certified public accountant, and an attorney at Martinez and Torres Law Offices, PSC. Applying his expertise in auditing and taxes, he also provides law services in the areas of foreclosure, bankruptcy, evictions, and real estate on depositions. He is honored to represent financial institutions and other creditors, while also putting to use his public notary certification. Starting out with only a few employees, Mr. Martinez is proud to have built the biggest business mortgage loan firm in Puerto Rico, with a staff of more than 100. He adds that surviving, having a successful business, and still being able to comply with clients through the COVID-19 pandemic is very successful.

To remain abreast of his industry, Mr. Martinez maintains membership with the United States Foreclosure Network, American Mortgage Banking Attorneys, and Puerto Rico Bar Association. He is also a board member of the Certified Public of College Accountants. Upon reflection, he attributes his professional success to exceptional client service and having a diligent management team running the day-to-day aspects of the business for 15 years, which makes it feel like a true family business. In five years’ time, Mr. Martinez hopes to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
