Gabriel Perez, attorney and partner at Ortega, McGlashin & Perez, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in criminal and civil defense law.
Inspired by his parents’ modest beginnings in Mexico, Mr. Perez grew up with a strong sense of justice, a desire to fight for the underdog and a deep understanding that all things worth having are worth working for. A stellar student, he attended the University of Texas at El Paso on scholarship, graduating cum laude in 1997 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing and management, and summa cum laude in 1999 with a Master of Business Administration. He pursued his passion for justice at the Texas Tech University School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 2008, and began his legal career as an associate of Ellis & Ortega, LLC, the same year. In 2014, Mr. Perez became a partner of Ortega, McGlashin, Hicks, & Perez PLLC, remaining with the firm until 2019, when he moved into his current position as a partner of Ortega, McGlashin & Perez PLLC.
Mr. Perez specializes in federal criminal and civil defense cases, with litigation experience in areas including real estate, construction, family law, financial and fiduciary law, and breach-of-contract cases. He has been admitted to practice law in Texas and New Mexico and has argued before the United States Supreme Court twice, an opportunity he considers the highlight of his career. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Perez was adjunct faculty at El Paso Community College from 2009 until 2017, where he taught business statistics and criminal law. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of both the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and the El Paso Bar Association and has served on the City of El Paso’s Bicycle Advisory Committee. He looks forward to remaining with Ortega, McGlashin & Perez and continuing to fight for his clients for years to come, and enjoys free time spent with his son.
