Title: Attorney
Company: Zeigler Cohen & Koch
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

Robert G. Zeigler, Attorney at Zeigler Cohen & Koch, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical defense law.

For close to four decades, Mr. Zeigler has been one of the most respected medical defense attorneys in Indiana. Since 1993, he has practiced with Zeigler Cohen & Koch, where he specializes in litigation and medical malpractice defense on behalf of healthcare providers. Initially, Mr. Zeigler had hoped to become a history teacher, inspired by the dedication that he saw in his professors and academic mentors. He attended Illinois College, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1970 and a Master of Arts in American history the following year. A newlywed at the time, Mr. Zeigler quickly understood that the job market for teachers was challenging and unlikely to support his new family, so he returned to school at the University of Illinois College of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 1980.

Mr. Zeigler’s career in law began as an attorney with Ice Miller LLP, an Indianapolis-based firm, where he practiced for a number of years before moving into his current role at Ziegler Cohen & Koch. In addition to his work at the firm, Mr. Zeigler is a member and past chair of the Illinois Bar Ethics Committee and the president of the American Philatelic Society. Zeigler Cohen & Koch has been rated one of the top medical defense firms in the state, and Mr. Zeigler was individually named one of the Top Attorneys in Indiana, honored as the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana’s 2000 Defense Lawyer of the Year, and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has contributed a chapter to the handbook for torts in the state of Indiana and emphasizes the necessity of having a flexible and creative mind in all phases of life. In the upcoming years, Mr. Zeigler hopes to begin winding down his practice and to remain with the firm in a reduced role.
