Robert Ong Hing, JD, Partner and Attorney at Stockton & Hing, P.A., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law.
Raised by Chinese immigrants, Mr. Hing was initially prepared to pursue a career in the medical field as a doctor. Though he attended Harvard Medical School, he switched his major to government following the completion of his pre-med requirements. Thereafter, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1955. With a newfound desire to represent and serve minority populations, he subsequently earned a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1958. Following his graduation, he was licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Arizona before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Hing began his career as an attorney for Stockton & Karam in 1958. Upon leaving his position with the aforementioned firm in 1961, he gained valuable expertise as a special legal counsel to the Director of Insurance for the State of Arizona and as the owner of Hing Properties. Specializing in insurance regulatory law, he has excelled as an attorney for Stockton & Hing for over 60 years. Established in 1961, Stockton & Hing is renowned for handling the cases involving the insolvency of Arizona Savings and Loan, the rehabilitation of insolvent insurance companies and civil rights issues. For his accomplishments, Mr. Hing was listed in Bests Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys and earned a Silver Star Award, which was granted to him by the governor of Arizona.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hing has maintained professional affiliations with the American Arbitration Association, the American Judicature Society, the Maricopa County Bar Association and the Lawyers Club of Phoenix. In addition to his professional career, he has remained dedicated to his community as well as the sport of tennis as the founder of the Scottsdale Racquet Club and the Scottsdale Athletic Club. Above all, he is most proud to have drafted laws on insurance guaranty funds in an effort to benefit the public. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hing aims to keep his mind active by continuing to work in his field.
