He carried his passion for law with him through his academic career, and as a result obtained a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Fordham University in 1982 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia in 1986. He is licensed to practice law by the State Bars of New York and Vermont before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First, Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth, Tenth, and Federal Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan and the U.S. Tax Court. Renowned for his extensive experience in the management and coordination of litigations and well-versed in the application and admissibility of expert opinion evidence, he is proud to have successfully conducted one of the nation’s first Daubert hearings during his career at McKool Smith, PC.
Prior to joining McKool Smith, PC, Mr. Johnson found success as a partner with Donovan Leisure Newton & Irvine, Brobeck Phleger & Harrison, LLP and Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman LLP. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he has served on the grievance committee of the Quechee Club since 2020. Over the course of his career, he has maintained professional affiliations with the New York County Lawyers Association and the New York City Bar Association. For his contributions in the field, he is proud to have been recognized by Super Lawyers as a leading lawyer in New York for securities litigation, business litigation and appellate matters. Additionally, he was selected for inclusion in Lawdragon’s guide to the 500 Leading Plaintiff Financial Lawyers and was named a local “litigation star” by Benchmark Litigation.
