Ekojoka F. Aghedo, associate attorney at the Law Offices of Mullen & Filippi, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in worker’s compensation defense and civil rights.

Born and raised in Nigeria, Mr. Aghedo was inspired to pursue a career in law by the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, a prominent civil rights lawyer in his area. After witnessing his neighbor suffer through an unjust arrest, he made it his goal to study public defense. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 2018, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in law, with honors, from Ambrose Alli University in 2014 and a Barrister of Law from the Nigerian Law School in 2015. As a law student, he was presented with an award for his distinguished advocacy within the Faculty of Law. Thereafter, Mr. Aghedo was licensed to practice law by the State Bar of California and the Nigerian Bar Association.

In his current role, Mr. Aghedo represents employers that are sued by injured workers. Through attempting to minimize and prevent abuse in the workplace, he works diligently to obtain the compensation that his clients are legally entitled to. Throughout his career, he is proud to have joined Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), which provides legal services and representation to young immigrants. Moreover, he has contributed his expertise to the Christian Lawyers’ Fellowship of Nigeria, a service for human rights and pro bono representation. Looking toward the future, Mr. Aghedo aims to further expand upon his knowledge of workers’ compensation and propose new theories on free speech through authoring a book on the topic.
