Harvey M. Kagan, Attorney at Law, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in general law.
Renowned for having practiced law for over 50 years, Mr. Kagan has dedicated his career to serving his clients in a multitude of practice areas, notably estate planning and real estate law. He established his private practice, Harvey Kagan, Attorney at Law in Carmel, Indiana in 1988 after working for himself from 1981 to 1984. Prior, he served as the Indiana deputy attorney general from 1972 to 1981 and is proud to have collected over $100,000 in debts for the state of Indiana. From 1986 to 1988, he found additional success as an associate with Montague M. Oliver Junior Associates.
Inspired to pursue a career in law by his father, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University in 1962 and 1964 respectively. Returning to his alma mater, he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1970. Thereafter, he was licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Indiana before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. During this time, he began his career as a legal editor with Bobbs-Merril Co. in Indianapolis between 1970 and 1972.
In addition to his professional career, Mr. Kagan has contributed as a volunteer librarian with the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation from 1984 to 1994 and on the board of directors of the Hamilton County Neighbor Development from 2008 to 2020. Throughout his career, he has maintained professional affiliations with the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, and B’nai B’rith. A celebrated Marquis listee, he is honored to have been featured in the 63rd edition of Who’s Who in America and the sixth and 10th editions of Who’s Who in American Law and presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the field. Above all, he wants to be remembered by his peers as an honest and persistent hard worker.
