Mr. Mushkin earned a Bachelor in Business and Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin in 1953 and a Bachelor of Laws from Harvard University in 1956. Once he graduated, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a judge advocate and general officer from 1957 to 1958. Upon completion of his degrees, Mr. Mushkin was admitted to practice law in New York and the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1956, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 1962, Connecticut in 1977 and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut in 1978.

Mr. Mushkin began his career in 1958 as a trial attorney at Emile Zola Berman and A Harold Frost. In 1960, he became a senior attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he remained until 1964. In 1970, he became a partner of the law firm Philips & Mushkin, Professional Corporation, remaining in that position until 1985. For the following three years, he was a partner with Blodnick, Pomeranz, Schultz & Abramowitz, Professional Corporation. Since 1988, he has been the principal of the Law Offices of Martin Mushkin LLC, during which time he was also a partner of Pomeranz, Gottlieb & Mushkin, LLC from 1997 to 2019. Alongside his career, he also was a member of the Chairman’s Panel of Finra.org (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) since 2002, a member of the Congressionally Mandated SEC-SBA Forum on Small Business Capital Formation for 1 year, a mediator for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York from 2000 to 2019 and co-chairman of the Practicing Law Institute Course on Accountants and Liability, Law and Ligation.

Mr. Mushkin co-authored the “American Institute CPA’s Handbook on Accountants Liability” in 1977 and was the co-publisher and author of “The American/Overseas Investor” from 1990 to 1992. As a testament to his success, Mr. Mushkin was inducted as a member of numerous esteemed organizations, including the American Bar Association, Association of the Bar of the City of New York, New York State Bar Association, the American Alpine Club and the Greenwich Connecticut Town Democratic Committee. Mr. Mushkin also has 5 first ascents of Alaskan Mountain Peaks He is also listed in the fifth and ninth editions of Who’s Who in America.
